OTHS Boys Lacrosse Comes Up Short vs Chaminade
On Saturday April 5th, the O’Fallon Boys Varsity Lacrosse team took on the Chaminade Red Devils from St Louis. JV played a great game, anchored by a strong performance in goal by #30 Matthew Meyer and solid defense by his defensemen. However, for the second straight game the Panthers came up 1 goal short, losing 4-3. Varsity lost a defensive battle, 4-1. The boys put on a great defensive performance, led by #18 Robert Ates in the goal with 10 saves and caused 16 turnovers, 8 of which were caused by #21 Lars Reynolds. Shane McIntyre continued his recent domination on face-offs, winning 7 of 8. However, O’Fallon’s multiple turnovers coupled with difficulty transitioning the ball from defense to offense were too much for them to overcome, playing a major role in their defeat. Ultimately the team couldn’t get things going on the offensive side of the field, scoring only 1 goal late in the 4th quarter by #2 Clayton Reinier (assisted by #10 Harrison Berry), making their record an even 4-4 for the season. This week the Panthers take on MICDS (Monday, 4/7), Parkway West (Wednesday, 4/9), and Eureka (Saturday, 4/12).
Brian Furrow became a one-man wrecking crew for the Panthers in recent weeks, most notably when he ripped the goal crease for 14 goals in just two games. Besides the phenomenal accomplishment, the senior player, the son of Ed and AnneMarie Furrow, also dished out four assists - drawing rave reviews from first year OTHS coach Kevin Finn.
